John: Grandpa? Too old for me. Come on. Am I that old?

Jane: In Hangzhou dialect Dabo and Dama(大伯,大妈) is to address people between uncle and grandpa

John: Oh, that’s what I can live with.

Jane: In Chinese, grandpa or granny is the sign of respect for people around fifty. But in English, people around fifty are preferred to be addressed as uncle, or aunt.
